I've talked to a lot of guests on the IP show about homeschooling and unschooling, but I've never covered this topic from the perspective of someone who grew up this manner.    

This Sunday (November 8th 09) my guest is an inspiring young man  who grew up being an unschooled child.  Quinn’s mother Barb Lundgren who was a recent guest on this show, founded the Rethinking Education Rethinking Everything Conference, at which Quinn was a recent speaker.  

Quinn is 26 years old, but I have to tell you, when you listen to what he has to say, you will understand that his wisdom is truly ancient.  When I read what he has to say about parenting, education, the true meaning of freedom, the environment, and all the issues confronting us today, Quinn could very well be a spokesperson for the Millennial Generation, who I believe are here to light our way.

If there's one topic of discussion that's guaranteed to bring parents out in a sweat it's got to be sex¦

Time was when this was a subject parents rarely had to face until their kids reached the tween or early teen stage.  When I was growing up in England few parents spoke about it at all, preferring to treat it as a topic that would be covered in biology class at school.  But in today's media-saturated society, children are becoming aware of and asking question about sex at a much younger age, leaving many parents at a loss to know how to respond. I mean, what parent is prepared with a ready response to a four-and-a-half-year-old who pipes up in the back of the car on the way home from pre-school, "Mummy, did you know that boys and girls go together?"  As my grandson Joel did a few weeks back.
